Here are some pictures and background information on my Speedster which has taken me 10 years to complete.

The donor was the first car I ever bought, a 1303S 1600 VW Beetle, I was 18 and my boss lent me the money (£1500). I had the car on the road for a year or so and due to work and the car needing a lot of work to get it through for an MOT, it ended up in my mates barn for about 11-12 years.

I've always loved the 356 and a trip to Chesil made my mind up. Project started. Pick the dub up and strip her down. Bought all new parts, had Chesil shorten the chassis. Completed the rolling chassis.

Bought the body from Chesil and had them fit it. Spent many journeys with my pap pap on a trailer travelling to Chesil - Newark / Newark - Tygan and so on (that's another story).

I was 40 last year and decided to take the plunge, asked if Chesil could complete my car for me. After time and complications due to the DVLC I finally picked the car up with a trailer on the Friday, nice steady drive home (5hrs). Got home at five o'clock.

On the Saturday morning my wife and I loaded the Porsche and set off to Italy for our honeymoon. It was one of the best experiences of my life.

Fingers crossed we will be at some Club events this year to meet up with other members
