VolksWorld - Sandown Park - 25th March 2017
Billed as Europe's largest air-cooled show this had a great display of air-cooled vehicles; dominated by Beetles, Karmann Ghias and Camper Vans, but also many rare VW types and quite a few early Porsches. Tony and I brought our Speedsters and met up with Rob in his Convertible D for a coffee at the Giro Cafe and then had a good look around the show.
As well as lots of interesting cars in the inside halls there were many parts and supplies stands where you could buy useful bits for our cars. I came away with some discounted Golden Film oil and a couple of oil change gasket sets but could have bought a whole lot more.
The halls were packed with expensively restored cars had probably done very little real world mileage, but they were magnificent.
Some really over-the-top engines that really made you smile even if they were never likely to grace the back of a Speedster.
The inside halls had dealers from all over Europe selling parts and accessories that you did not even know you needed - Tony seemed quite pleased with his purchases though!

As well as the inside halls, there were large outside areas with stands and vehicles displays by type - Beetles, Vans, early Porsches and other air-cooled specials.
An interesting day and well worth the drive to Esher. Although it has not been possible to organise a Club parking space within the show - maybe next year we could meet up and arrive in a convoy so at least we all park together in the public car park in front of the main building.
Top down weather for the drive home - definitely a good start to the show season with Detling next weekend and the Chatham show on the 16th April.
