Classic Vehicle Restoration Show
4th & 5th November 2017
Report by Martin Burge
Sponsored by Footman James, the Classic Vehicle Restoration Show took place at the Royal Bath & West Showground in Shepton Mallet over the weekend of 4th/5th November. Speedsters & Spyders had the largest stand in the Mendip Hall which was reserved for replica and kit cars and included the Complete Kit Car magazine stand.
On the Saturday we had 6 speedsters on the stand which is a great turn out for a November weekend! Gerald Dawson brought his Covin speedster on the Saturday but was not happy to have to drive it from Bristol in the rain and then clean and dry it when he got there! Gerald was not able to attend on the Sunday which left us with 5 - 4 Chesils and a Vintage speedster.
The show was well attended and as usual the Classic car park had some interesting cars including 3 De Loreans parked together! There was a prize giving at the end of the show for the clubs and cars exhibited - Norton Radstock Historic Vehicle club won the best club stand.
There were more visitors coming through the halls on the Sunday and many people spending a lot of time looking at all of our cars, asking lots of questions.

Exhibitors included Classic Car Restoration companies showing their skills and selling cars alongside companies selling parts, accessories and tools for enthusiasts own projects. The show covered everything from completely untouched barn finds to pristine concours standard finished cars. There was also indoor and outdoor auto jumbles.
The 25th anniversary of the founding of the club was celebrated on both days with the cutting of a cake and opening of some bubbly! The guys from Complete Kit car magazine and the organisers (Morton's) kindly joined in with the ceremony.
