Gears of Change Classic Car Show

18th & 19th June 2016

This was a large combined Classic Car and Military Vehicle Show which took place at Quex Park near Birchington, Kent.

Parked behind me was the wonderful blue 'Outlaw' Speedster built by Dan Simpson for his wife Carol. The fact that this car has such an amazing specification is not surprising seeing that Dan is one of the country's top air-cooled engine builders and also represents VintageSpeed products in the UK. Have a look at www.vintagespeed.co.uk to see what I mean.

Several hundred interesting cars including lots to interesting Porsches and VWs of all descriptions

Also lots of unusual American cars and early rarities.

Paul Foreman brought along the lovely yellow Speedster that he built with his dad - this is almost a sister car to mine with Carrera bootlid and badging but in much better condition - mine is now beginning to show its high mileage. Note the proper flat Carrera bumper trims - a very nicely finished car.

Lots of very nice post-war cars including MGs and Jaguars

Overall a very interesting show, and together with the extensive military show and lots of show-ring activity, this made for a very full and enjoyable day.

I was pleased to meet up with my nephew and his sons who both enjoyed my car. This show is defininely on my list for 2017
